Take Two...

Okay... so we took a few more photos today. Still no better. It's me. It's totally me. Just not in the mood to smile I guess.

I created the set in the photo for The La Motta Art Show 2008. The first time I wore it with a bombshell red satin dress. But today it was jeans and bare feet all the way!

You probably can't tell, but I am sitting on my favorite red stool - my painting stool - and draping my legs over the back of it... Comfy? Not so much! Maybe one of the reasons I am not smiling! LOL

what is she doing with her hands?

All I can do is try to get a few decent photos of me wearing some of my own jewelry. Today? Apparently not my day. Tomorrow? Tomorrow is another day. And I will try again. For your amusement - your viewing pleasure (or not) - I offer up one of the pics from today's shoot... Is it me or do I look totally pissed?

wishing

There are moments I wish I could once again dance. Moments of frustration. Anger. Grief. Wouldn't it be lovely to find a way to remain unaffected by the negativity? To dance - just dance - completely oblivious to everything but the music and the dancing and the bliss.

Ballerina

When I was a young girl, I wanted to be a ballerina! Deep down inside, I am still that young girl waiting for my big moment, waiting to dance...

Dolphin Dream

An excerpt from Italy, a solo performance piece.

(SOUND OF HARP. SOUND OF CHIMES. MUSIC begins.)

DREAMING WOMAN
In my dream I have dark skin. I’m naked except for something wrapped around my waist. I can’t tell if I’m a girl or a boy. It doesn’t seem to matter. What does matter is the smell of the ocean the dancing of the waves the sunlight the sand. I wade in a shallow pool of water in between some rocks. A dolphin!

DOLPHIN
Come and play!

DREAMING WOMAN
I can’t. I don’t remember how to breathe under water.

DOLPHIN
I’ll remind you.

DREAMING WOMAN
Okay. He’s my friend from a long time ago. Before I was born into this dark skin. I grasp his dorsal fin. We glide through the water. This is my home.

DOLPHIN
When you breathe under water your nose must allow only the air molecules in.

DREAMING WOMAN
Yes. I remember.

(MUSIC ends.)
